4th of July in IOWA

We LOVE our trips to Iowa for the 4th so when we heard that Greg was going to have a wedding reception in Iowa over the 4th weekend we were thrilled.  It's always so much fun to get together with extended family... especially when your family is as fun as mine is!   (not sure how i got away from the reception with no pictures)

The reception was a blast.  Katie and Greg were married in California earlier in the summer.  Their reception was so much fun.  We danced the night away in true Rubel family style!

I talked Joey into participating in an 11 mile RIDE/RUN Race!  My cousins have participated for years and I've always thought it sounded like fun but couldn't talk anyone into it until this year.  The day before the race Joey, Kane and Mary all decided they were up for it.  We all survived.  My goal was to finish before the 80 year old lady who was wearing white jean shorts (sadly I don't think we did) :-)  Maybe next year.

Joey enjoyed it and talked about doing it again next time we are there.  Just the other day he mentioned something about a half marathon (I tried to hide my excitement but I was secretly jumping up and down on the inside).  I love running and have always thought it would be fun to do a long race together.  I don't want to act too excited or he might back out on me.  Gotta make him think it was all his idea ;-)

We survived our 12 hour drive home and look forward to our next visit to Iowa.

The pool is awesome!  Slides for all ages!
Molly loved this leap pad thing.
Katelyn cracks me up with her giant goggles!
Molly and Avery BOTH jumped off of the high dive!
We visited the Ice Cream museum and enjoyed yummy ice cream.  (they were HUGE)

The cousins had so much fun playing together!
Here we are, after our big race.
These headbands were the hot item at the craft fair in the park.

fiJust getting around to reading this post. Still chuckling about the white jean shorts lady! And I didn't take any pictures at the reception either - must have been too much fun!
