We had an eventful Thursday evening last week. There was a really NASTY storm that came through. Joey was being a normal guy and was at the back door (with it open) saying "hailey, you have to come look at this storm, I think we're going to have a tornado!" I was busy sewing some shirts for my nieces and had NO interest in looking out the back door at thunder, lightning and hail. He wouldn't let up, so I got up to go look and just as I did he yelled, jumped back and slammed the door shut. OH MY GOSH, A TREE FELL JUST FELL ON OUR HOUSE, were the words he yelled. I took off running to Avery's room cause she's on that side of our house... yanked her out of bed and came to the living room. After calming down, we looked out the windows to see the damage. It was crazy cause the storm was so loud that you couldn't hear the tree falling or hitting the house. Thankfully it didn't make it through the ceiling and no one was hurt. My heart rate was through the roof for about an hour and I didn't end up going to bed until about 1 am that night.
We spent all day Friday getting it all cleaned up. A tree service came out and had the tree gone in no time. It was pretty fun to watch. Today the insurance adjuster came out to assess the damages.... Our roof has to be replace, the fence has to be repaired, the back bedroom window needs to be re-set and our gutters and flashing have to be replaced. Thank Goodness for insurance! The damages are between $15,000 and $20,000. I was shocked to learn that it costs $1000 to have a tree cut and removed from your yard.
The big kicker is that we have no trees in our yard (well, besides a couple wimpy Bradford Pears in the front)... and we had no trees before Thursday either. The tree came from the neighbors yard! It's our luck to be the only house on the street with no trees, but the day after a storm we're the ones with a stupid tree on our roof!
so... we've had
- a security system installer fall through the ceiling,
- our hot water heater broke and leaked down the walls,
- the AT&T uverse guy fell through the ceiling
- and now a tree fell on our house...
and we've haven't even lived here 2 years!
I'm praying that we won't have a fire or get robbed cause really... what else is there!??
After getting all of the tree drama squared away we packed up and headed to Edmond to celebrate Easter and Joey's sister's engagement. We had a great time there and I'll be posting pictures soon.

I still can't believe that a tree went through your house. Thankfully no one was visiting since that is your guest room! Glad everyone is okay and amen for insurance!! You guys totally need to move ASAP!
