Volunteers

If you know anything about me... you know I love to volunteer.
You know me... always liking to have a plate that is overflowing.  So... about 6 months ago I took on the job of Maumelle Mommy and Me president/organizer.  Mommy and Me is a group of moms of young children.  We have a calendar full of events.  Mom and me playdates at the park, moms night out, jump zone, gymnastics, crafts, holiday parties,  volunteer involvement etc.
Our latest project was to paint rainbows for a local foundation called Ray of Hope.  (ray of hope is a foundation that will help families in Maumelle who are faced with tragedy... the foundation is hosted a gala, a 5k race and a family fun run) One of our moms had a great idea to get our group involved in showing our support.  The plan was to paint as many rainbows as we could, to hang them around the trail of the family fun run that benefits Ray of Hope.  We hosted a few painting parties and moms came over to pick up posters to take home to paint.  After a week of painting we have about 70 rainbows.  Many of these rainbows have been drying in my garage.  I walked out there tonight and my girls were painting away.  I asked them if they remembered what all the rainbows were for and they said "these rainbows are for the race that's in 5 sleeps, they're for the people who need help, they're to make people smile and they're to help raise money for them"   It's humbling to hear those words from the tiny mouths of 6 and 3 year old children.  I love watching them learn about giving back.  It is our hope that these rainbows will put smiles on the faces of those that this foundation will touch!
Molly and Avery ran the family fun run.  Their first race :-)
