Dora is coming to Little Rock and the local news station and radio station paired up with each other and hosted a Dora Dad look a like contest. They were giving the top 5 "dora dad's" a family 4 pack of tickets to the show. The #1 dora dad would get back stage passes. I asked Joey last night if he would do it and he said sure, but it was 9:30 and we didn't feel like getting it all done... plus when I read the news write up about it they said that in other cities they've had really big turn outs. My thoughts were, we'd end up spending $30 on the costume and there'd be tons of "dora dads" so we might not win. For fun we decided to go check out all the other dads dressed like Dora. When we got there, there were only 4 dads! I couldn't believe it! And... I was kicking myself for not throwing joey's orange shorts and the purple backpack in the car.
My mom and I RAN across the street to Belk and bought the first pair of Orange shorts we could find. For his shirt... he wore mine (good thing the only shirt that still fits me is a hot pink one) So he and I did a quick wardrobe change in the womens' bathroom. When he came out wearing my v-neck tight shirt everyone was cracking up laughing!
No backpack or wig - but since there were only 4 dad's and 5 winners we won! The shorts that we got were actually swim trunks and had a Hawaiian print to them. So, he wore his flip flops and sunglasses and claimed to be Hawaiian dora :-)
I also made him a map on a paper towel. The map said he was going on an Arkansas Adventure - going through THV (the tv station), over b98.5 fm (the radio station) to get to Cheeburger Cheeburger (the restaurant that hosted the contest).
The judges liked that one since there was a judge from each location.
WOO HOO we won! They ended up giving all 5 contestants backstage passes. It was hilarious, as you can see from the pictures!
The best part is the news was there and it just happens to be the station that they leave on in the break room at Joey's work! HILARIOUS!
Now I'm trying to decide if the 4 of us should go or if I should leave him home with Avery and take another 3 year old and their mom.
*I didn't have my camera - so I copied these from the radio guy's facebook page... which means they're all publicly on facebook too!! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. I'm actually still laughing when I look at the pictures.

Go Joey!!! Awesome!!
What a man will do for his four girls!
Only Joey. I'm so telling Adam that. We want to go to Dora Live (or really Grace does), but I'm sure he wouldn't do that.
